CM: Stability and continuity two of Milan’s biggest assets heading into the new season

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are hoping that two of their biggest weapons for the upcoming season will be stability and continuity, something the other top Serie A clubs lack.

Calciomercato.com writes that the Milan management – along with owners Elliott Management – are following a firm and precise path to try and improve the quality of the squad and also put the club on a more firm financial footing after years of huge losses.

Mike Maignan has arrived to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma, then the permanent signing of Fikayo Tomori was confirmed, Sandro Tonali signed under more advantageous terms and Brahim Diaz rejoined on a two-year loan. These were investments to protect and build on the young core established.

The arrival of the replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu is not a priority in terms of timing as Paolo Maldini wants to wait for the right opportunity. The two best signings of Maldini, as per the report, are stability and continuity. In a Serie A that has changed a lot – with Lazio, Roma, Juventus, Inter and Napoli all changing manager – Milan and Atalanta start from greater certainties.

Unlike last season, there is a real deputy to Zlatan Ibrahimovic too, one who knows all about winning. That in itself could make a huge difference.
