CM: Taremi talks remain alive and concrete – what is needed to close the deal

By Oliver Fisher -

Mehdi Taremi wants to join AC Milan and he is hoping that a deal can be agreed with Porto in the final few days of the window, a report claims.

As Calciomercato.com report, the management see it as necessary to sign a new striker to alternate with Olivier Giroud and Taremi is the name that is considered to be ideal for Stefano Pioli’s plans.

Porto do not need to sell Taremi because they got €60m from Otavio’s move to Al-Nassr, but they risk losing the 31-year-old on a free from February considering that his deal runs out in June 2024.

For this reason, their president Pinto Da Costa could lower the request from €20-25m which is considered too high by Milan due to his contractual situation. The operation remains difficult, but concrete and alive.

Milan’s plan is to try and get some exits sealed such as Divock Origi, Fode Ballo Tourè and Alexis Saelemaekers. After that, the Rossoneri management intends to present an offer of around €15m.

If Milan were able to free up funds and save on salaries, a 10th and final summer signing would become possible. Taremi only wants the Rossoneri too, having reached an agreement in principal over personal terms.

  1. Milan has done a good job in this transfer window, and, the way they have done it, almost all the players they showed interest in were willing to come on board. I know Milan wants him, but, I hope we don’t overpay for him. I think he’s the best of the lot; the only one that can truly challenge Giroud for the starting position.
