CM: ‘Three games to save himself’ – Fonseca’s plan to restore confidence

Paulo Fonseca requires a turning point to keep his job, and he is fully aware of this. AC Milan must begin to pick up points consistently, otherwise they will be forced to make a decision about Fonseca’s future. 

At present, Milan are toeing the line of mediocrity, and the Rossoneri have been doing this for far too long. Looking back to last season, things were not up to the standard required, and the club were humiliated domestically and in Europe.

With Fonseca’s appointment, a change was expected, but it has not arrived. If anything, the Diavolo are in a worse position, and whilst desperation has not set in yet, it could arrive after the international break if there is not a positive return.

If a turning point does not arrive now, the management have told the Portuguese head coach it will never arrive, state Calciomercato.com. Therefore, in the three games that he has been given, he will ‘gamble a lot’.

The 51-year-old will ‘rely’ on his iconic players to turn things around, challenging them – and the rest of the squad – to rise their own levels, whilst trying to restore confidence in one another, and above all himself. It will be a task, but he feels confident in his abilities.

So far, Milan have taken the fewest points from nine games in the last 10 years, a record that could eventually define Fonseca’s tenure.
