CM: Tonali’s big chance comes against Celtic – his game time is set to increase

By Oliver Fisher -

Sandro Tonali is expected to get more and more opportunity to show what he is capable of over the coming weeks, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com notes how Tonali is for the moment an alternative to the immovable pairing of Bennacer and Kessie, but as he grows and develops he could begin to challenge one or both. Obviously the double pivot has been one of the strengths of Milan’s run of 20 games without defeat, yet with a compact schedule Tonali will get his chance.

Against Celtic on Thursday night the Rossoneri will begin their European campaign and Tonali will start. He is only 20, but he carries the pressure in some ways of a €25m plus bonuses price tag.

With just 137 minutes in the league and only 31 in the qualifying rounds for the Europa League, Tonali’s game time is expected to ramp up after an initial period of adaptation.

It will be up to him to prove that Milan were right not to go for a fourth midfielder of starter quality like Bakayoko.
