CM: Two defenders could leave Milan this summer; RB Leipzig starlet eyed as replacement

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could re-ignite their interest in RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano this summer if two centre-backs leave, a report claims.

The Rossoneri could be set for somewhat of a revolution in defence this summer with doubts over whether Mateo Musacchio will stay having lost his spot in the starting XI and the possibility that Simon Kjaer’s €2.5m option to buy will not be exercised.

In the event that both of the aforementioned leave, Milan would be down to three centre-backs in Leo Duarte – currently recovering from a long-term injury – and Matteo Gabbia who has made just a handful of senior appearances.

According to Calciomercato.com, the possible farewells of Simon Kjaer and Mateo Musacchio means that the name of Dayot Upamecano may come back into fashion as a summer target.

The Frenchman, a pupil of rumoured next Milan head coach Ralf Rangnick, has been admired by the Rossoneri for some time and has a release clause of €60m, as per most outlets.
