CM: Two players return but four set to miss out – latest on Milan squad ahead of Inter clash

By Oliver Fisher -

There is good news for AC Milan regarding two of their key players ahead of the derby against Inter, a report claims, but bad news regarding another.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Milan derby will take place on 17 October for the third time in history, with Inter having won both the previous meetings on that date in 1937 and 1948 (2-1 and 2-0 respectively).

Monday was a rest day for the Rossoneri squad, but the resumption of training is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has fully recovered and will be on the pitch against Inter on Saturday, while captain Alessio Romagnoli is improving every day and is also expected to start.

It’s not as though Pioli has a choice, though. Matteo Gabbia has tested positive for Coronavirus and withdrew from the Italy U21 squad, while Leo Duarte is still positive too, plus Andrea Conti and Mateo Musacchio are injured.

Ante Rebic is still in strong doubt for the derby too. The Croatian international is still struggling with an elbow dislocation sustained against Crotone, but there will be further checks.
