CM: Why Loftus-Cheek has been left out of the line-up to face Lecce

By Oliver Fisher -

There was some surprise among AC Milan fans when the starting line-up for the Lecce game was named and Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s name did not appear among the 11.

Loftus-Cheek was utterly dominant during the win over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night as he played in a more advanced role ahead of Tijjani Reijnders and Yunus Musah who were in a double pivot.

The Englishman demonstrated all of his energy, physicality and dynamism, often carrying the ball from Milan’s half into the Parisians’ as opponents bounced off him while trying to tackle him.

It was a great performance after missing some crucial games due to an annoying muscle issue, and everyone expected him to get another start against Lecce before the international break.

However, Tommaso Pobega is in his spot as the attacking midfielder. According to what is being reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Loftus-Cheek is not in the best condition after a demanding game against PSG, so will start on the bench instead.

  1. Pioli is tactically and technically inefficient, he’s making our scudeto win two seasons a go a fluke. That pobega/Krunic combination is unimaginable.
