Late last night, it was reported that AC Milan could be on the verge of another departure, with Lorenzo Colombo nearing an exit.
There has been a need to conduct departures before arrivals this summer, especially with those returning from loan deals. One of those was Colombo, who spent the year at Empoli, without the Azzurri taking a gamble on him permanently.

However, the next step in the striker’s journey is ready to be made.
Another loan… for now
As Gianluca Di Marzio reports, Genoa are ready to make a move for the Italian, and they are pushing to get a deal done with the Rossoneri for the striker. The two parties already have a basic agreement, but there are details that need further ironing out.
He will leave, again, on loan with an option to buy, with the deal reportedly worth €10 million if made permanent. However, if the Rossoblu manage to secure Serie A safety that clause could become mandatory.
Though this mandatory status seemingly would be reliant on if he reaches certain milestones with his goals and appearances.
All that is required now is an agreement from the player, and he will be ready to move to work with Patrick Vieira.
I dont believe that Colombo is good enaught for Milan, but at the moment besides him we only have two strikers Gimenez and Origi, so maybe it better to keep him as a backup. But what is the point of another loan with option? Its third (?) straight loan, just sell him permanently or make it loan with obligation. Constant loans to different clubs is not good for him and his development, and it is not good for us either.
Sitting on the bench or not even being in the match squad is better for his development then getting lots of Serie a minutes in another team?
Having player on a bench is better for the club, not for Colombo though. I am more interested in club’s interest than Colombo’s. I Think that after all of his loan spells he reached his celling. He wont be better than he is, SO either sell him permanently or keep him on the bench.
I think its good for all that goes and gets playing time somewhere else, especially under a coach like Viera who have learned first hand from Wenger how to develop young players.
For Milan I think it makes more sense to keep Okafor, since he can play both left wing as substitute for Leao, and center forward (where we only have Gimenez right now who is on vacation). We gonna need Okafor against Bari on august 17, and now during the pre-season tour.

Really think we’re making a mistake if we let Colombo go with no sign of a replacement. We’re already over our possible registrations if Jashari signs (that’s already assuming Adli and Vasquez are gone) so a home grown Italian option is a free registration in the squad and, if Gimenez gets injured or suspended (I think he is for the first two games) we’re down to Okafor as a backup. And let’s be honest, we’re trying to sell him too.
It will be Vlahovic instead of Colombo. Also how many players do you really need for only Serie A?
