Commisso attempts to close door on Milenkovic-Milan rumours: “I want to keep him”

By Oliver Fisher -

Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has moved to try and quash any chances of defender Nikola Milenkovic joining AC Milan this summer.

It is seemingly no secret that Milan are pushing to try and land Milenkovic this summer as head coach Stefano Pioli wants a trusted defensive reinforcement.

The 22-year-old is at the top of the wish list to strengthen the rearguard, which yesterday showed its shortcomings as Alessio Romagnoli and Mateo Musacchio were injured for the trip to Shamrock Rovers.

It is possible that Milan could try their luck late in the market and attempt to break down the resistance of Commisso, who continued to demand €40m for the Serbia international as per all major sources.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Commisso made his intentions clear regarding the 22-year-old.

“I never spoke to Milenkovic about the hypothesis that he leaves Fiorentina, I want to keep him,” he said (via MilanLive).

“Milenkovic is a good boy and an excellent defender.”

Saint-Etienne Wesley Fofana continues to be mentioned as a potential alternative to Milenkovic.
