Sergio Conceicao took questions this afternoon before AC Milan travel to face Genoa, but proceedings finished rather quickly, with the Portuguese giving a final one-word answer.
Since winning the Supercoppa Italiana, the Portuguese coach has been under immense pressure, as he has often referenced. Questions about his future have been nonstop, and it feels like this summer will be a storm for Milan to manage.
In his last press conference, Conceicao hinted at there being more going on behind the scenes than what was being let on, and stated that he would open Pandora’s Box effectively. Whereas today, it was more a focus on the present, and once again the past.
Rather than any questions about the future of his job, today’s press conference came to an abrupt ending, when Conceicao was asked about his experience so far, and whether there was a feeling of regret present, and his reply was quite simple.
Is there any regret, anger or disappointment for the Serie A standings?
“Yes… for everything.”
After that, he stood up, and the press conference ended. A very blunt ending, but perhaps a sign of how frustrated he is with things. Ultiamtely, he knows the quality in this team, and the recent run can certainly be seen as an insult to him, considering how poor they have been prior to recent changes.
There has been a lot said about him being let down by the management, but there seems to also be another anger, maybe towards the players.
Guess we would not play 343 next season
Guess he won’t be here next season.
He should keep his job. It’s ridiculous to think the problem has been the coach, given that they have now tried three coaches recently. There is clearly another problem.
I bet his biggest regret is thinking Milan had an even remotely competent management.
Despite all the struggles this season with Conceicao, he better suited to keep Milan progressing. All the talk about Italian coaches and the names being dropped, it would be another stop and start season like this current season if Conceicao leaves.
Indeed. Who was the last successful coach selection before Pioli? Heck, I can’t even remember. I guess Allegri in the sense that he won a scudetto but then again with the squad he had, even Bonera or Brocchi would have won it as the material was THAT good.
And the point is that the coach selection is a helluva important thing and we’ve failed it so many times already.
