Despite having managed to bring a trophy to the cabinet – the Supercoppa in January to be specific, celebrated with a now iconic cigar – Conceicao never really managed to make an impact on the hearts of Milan fans.
The Portuguese also ended up in the middle of a continuous whirlwind of names regarding his successor, while he was still playing for the remaining possible objectives in the league and in the cup.
He had promised to say his side of things once the season was over and to ‘open Pandora’s box’, but that moment never came. The club preferred to ‘hide’ him behind a press blackout both before and after the season finale against Monza, also due to him being banned for that match.
The dismissal is not yet official, but it will be soon. For Conceicao, his future could still be in Serie A, given that Lazio – where he also played and won trophies – are thinking about approaching him.
