Contract renewals and Primavera success: The latest news on AC Milan Women

By Steph Insixiengmay -

Milan’s Primavera Women are the Champions of Italy. Though Milan have won trophies in the U15 and U17 levels, this is their first time winning the Scudetto at the Primavera level.

The feat is made even more remarkable once you consider that the Rossonere started their youth squad much later than the other Serie A Femminile teams and were even fined for doing so. However, they’ve recovered ground rather quickly, and in just their third season, the Primavera have reached the summit and claimed the biggest prize of all.

Though this was a collective effort, there were a few standouts, particularly Karen Appiah and Sara Stokić, who scored a goal apiece. The future of the team seems bright with these two players leading the way. You can read a recap of the match

Below are some other bits of news…

➤ On Thursday, Milan announced the extension of midfielder Valery Vigliucci. As per the team themselves, the midfielder’s contract will run until June 2027.

➤ According to SempreMilan’s Luca Maninetti, goalkeeper Laura Giuliani will sign a renewal with the team. No details have been released yet but one should expect the signing to be made official soon.

➤ The Serie A Femminile season is almost over and Milan will surely win the Poule Salvezza (‘Salvation Round’) to avoid relegation. The fact that they had to play for their survival is disappointing and an indictment of the season. As a result, the team is looking to overhaul both the players and personnel in the summer, as was indicated in previous reports.

➤ There is no concrete date as to when the summer mercato for the women will open, but Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale has stated that the transfer window will open around the same time the men’s window opens and will last a week longer.

➤ Before then, Milan will take on SSD Napoli in one of the final games of the season. The game will take place on Sunday and kickoff time will be at 12:30 CEST.
