CorSera: ‘A winning move’ – Pavlovic one of the few early-season positives for Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

There isn’t a lot of positivity surrounding AC Milan at the moment, but one of the brighter recent notes has been Strahinja Pavlovic’s first couple of performances.

The central defender arrived last month from Red Bull Salzburg and the hope of the management is that he will bring some much-needed physicality and some extra aggression to the back line, in addition to being left-footed and full of potential.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) has a segment titled: ‘Pavlovic a winning move. An 18 million coup’. They describe the Serbian as one of the very few positive notes in Milan’s start to the season.

He came from Austria on a permanent basis for €18m plus €2m in bonuses and on Saturday against Lazio the defender scored his first goal in a red and black shirt. He was excellent in the first half, though in the second half some errors began to creep in, including letting his man go for the equaliser.

Nonetheless, Pavlovic has already entered the hearts of Milan fans in a very short time, because they appreciate his physique, speed, courage and above all his character in a side that is sorely lacking in leadership.

After the 2-2 draw against Lazio, the Serbian was the only Rossoneri player to be applauded and cheered by the supporters, and after the game his words were honest as he admitted that defensively the team are nowhere near good enough.

  1. With time I’m sure Pavlovic will grow into this role…Our right back seems to be creating more questions than answers. I have never been so harsh to write off a newcomer as quickly as I have Emmerson. I don’t think I wanna wait on him getting his act together. Definitely no upgrade on our captain.
