CorSera: Boost for Man Utd and Leverkusen as Milan can only sign Benfica starlet on loan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are continuing to push for a move for Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis, according to a report, but they face a problem.

The Rossoneri’s midfield department is a fascinating situation to assess for the upcoming window, with question marks over the futures of all but a couple of players in that area as things stand, meaning reinforcements will be needed.

It is no mystery that the Rossoneri are in the market for a long-term partner to Ismael Bennacer in the engine room of the midfield, and Florentino Luis continues to be persistently linked.

However, ESPN revealed earlier in the week that Milan are not alone in their pursuit as Manchester United, Leeds United, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis are all in the hunt.

According to the latest from il Corriere della Sera on Sunday (via MilanNews), Milan are indeed keen on signing the 20-year-old this summer but there is a problem.

The paper confirms that the player has a €120million release clause which puts Benfica in a commanding position, and as a result Milan could only sign him on loan, perhaps with an option or obligation to buy.
