AC Milan’s ownership group Elliott Management Corporation have made it clear that the club must take the Europa League seriously, a report claims.
Milan will host Lille at San Siro on Thursday night knowing that a win would put them in a very good position to qualify for the knockout stages as they would move on to nine points from nine and would be at least five points away from the third-placed team if not more.
According to il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), the Europa League is not a secondary objective to Elliott and in fact the leaders of the hedge fund have been very clear: the club’s mission is to get to the end of the competition.
It is not just a question of image, but also an economic one because an extra €20million are at stake in vital revenues given the Coronavirus pandemic. The idea of solely prioritising the league, therefore, is an idea that cannot be considered.
