CorSera: The financial reason behind Milan wanting to finish second in Serie A

By Euan Burns -

Whilst finishing in the top four is the clear aim right now for AC Milan, there is a very clear reason as to why they should be trying to finish second rather than fourth, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera (via Milan News), the Rossoneri must try and ensure they finish above Inter and Lazio in the Serie A table.

This is because there is about a €10 million difference in prize money between second place and fourth place in the Serie A table. Third place will also bring more money than fourth, but second is still mathematically possible.

First and foremost, though, Milan need to make sure that they grab at least fourth rather than drop down to fifth. With a massive game against Juventus to come on Sunday, the pressure is on this Milan team.

A win against Juventus would secure Champions League football.

  1. Agreed but what’s the use in the club? Nothing absolutely nothing. Last season we came first more money yet we got 50m so it’s of no effect
We lost the league and opportunity to qualify for the champions league final because we don’t have money to buy good players.
Maldini and Massara have the good players to buy but there’s no money
