AC Milan have been the busiest team in Serie A when it comes to the summer transfer window and yet there are still a few concerns to be addressed.
As Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports this morning, Milan have in fact already closed eight new signings and it is very probable that more reinforcements will arrive, but only after having completed some sales.
The new management team of Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio are giving Stefano Pioli a squad that is not only more competitive, but also deeper than last year.
However, looking at Milan’s momentum in view of the first league game against Bologna in 10 days time, the summer friendlies have suggested so far that the Rossoneri are a team that creates a lot but struggle to finish.
Even Pioli, after the match won on penalties against Monza, explained that his team must score more goals given the many chances they get. With the improvement of the physical condition, composure in front of goal should also increase.
There is however something still to be fixed in the defensive phase because Milan have in fact conceded too many goals in the preseason friendlies and therefore Pioli will have to work above all on this.
The new Diavolo want to play an attacking and aggressive game, but if Milan’s first line of press is beaten, the opponents will find free space ahead and plenty of it.
There is therefore a need to find the right balance and improve the mechanisms between defence and midfield. There’s still a few days to do it, but from Bologna onwards the team can’t go wrong.
I don’t understand why we need to panick this new season. We got new players and it is expected they need time to adapt to playing together. We signed 8 new players and potentially 6 will be drafted to the starting line up immediately so it’s very important we allow them enough time to get in to their rhythm… but these signings will cost pioli his job
I think you answered your own question. 8 new players and potentially up to 6 in the starting lineup. It’s not panic more of a strong concern
I’ve been a fan over 30+ years, I’ve never seen something like this go well
6 in the starting lineup? How the **** did you come up with such figure? We all know the defensive line. That’s 4 certainties. And MM16 is the starting GK. That makes 5. So… What’s left? My gut says Leao might keep his place on the LW. 6. Giroud will be the starter for sure. That’s 7 old starters already. What’s left? 3 midfielders (#10 included) and the RW.
So… There is room for max. 4 new players in the starting eleven. And it also seems as Krunic will keep his place so… Three new starters. Reijnders already looks as he’s been in Milan for ages. The RW has been missing for many years and is bound the be better no matter which of the new signings play there.
People are sooooooooooooo exaggerating this “we have too many new players, booohoooo”-thing. Those upgrades were necessary. Did you even watch the matches last season? Did you watch the matches in January? We needed depth. Now we got it. Get over it. 😀
My bad I double counted between formations. Potentially up to 5. RLC, Tiji, Puli, Chuk, Okafor.
If Krunic doesn’t start.or get sold, we have a completely different midfield and half of the forward line depending on formation. No issues there? Lol ok.
And for the umpteenth time. It’s not strictly new players, it’s new starters. Why does simply stating that means we’re crying. We’re just pointing it out..I’m doing so because I’ve seen this movie before.
January is a big result of world cup commitments. So I’ll give you that. Theo and Giroud played huge minutes. Thank goodness we got Okafor for depth. Oh but we lost Ballo. Lost Tonali and Bennacer, and perhaps Krunic, got Tiji and RLC so we’re even there. Lost Diaz, got Puli so we’re even there. Lost Messias,.got Chuk..sorry where did we get “depth” again? Romero? At least we got an actual RW
