CorSera: Ibrahimovic offended by attendance bonuses but Milan play the COVID-19 card

By Oliver Fisher -

The back-and-forth between AC Milan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic over his renewal has continued into preseason with no signs of an imminent signature.

The Swede did not show up at the team meeting on Monday and will also miss the first training session of the new season on Tuesday.

According to Tuesday’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), Milan are waiting for him and are not looking at alternatives, but Ibrahimovic will not return to Milanello until the agreement arrives.

The remaining knot is simple: the striker asks for €7million net while the club do not intend to go up from their offer of €6million overall (€5m as a fixed basis and €1m in bonuses).

The paper even writes that Ibrahimovic “is offended by the percentage linked to the appearances”, but Milan replies that, in the era of COVID-19, a bonus linked to the matches played is essential.

The parties, therefore, have not yet reached an agreement, but one will be found because Milan and the player want to continue together, despite everything.

The club has not set a dead line and for the moment it is not thinking of a plan B, while Stefano Pioli wants Ibra and the Rossoneri managers will satisfy him.
