Zlatan Ibrahimovic appears to have decided that he wishes to continue his playing career by another season with Milan, a report claims.
Il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes how the Swede has found himself at a crossroads and now he has to make a decision on whether to hang up his boots off the back of Milan’s Scudetto win or to keep going. The problem is his knee, which has been tormenting him for months and in the second half of the season it did not allow him to play as and as much as he would have liked.
Ibra will undergo an arthroscopic surgery in the next few days, perhaps already this week, because he wants to know whether or not it is possible to finally resolve a knee problem that has not been caused by trauma, but by general wear and tear.
The 40-year-old wants to be ready for the preseason training camp at the beginning of July. Mentally there is no question as he wishes to keep playing and feeling the adrenaline, but he must also feel well enough physically to continue.
Everything will therefore depend on what emerges from the operation, the prognosis and recovery times. If he did choose to carry on, a new annual contract worth €2.5m net plus bonuses is ready to be offered, but if he retires then a role within the club could still await.
