CorSera: Indolent and absent-minded – Leao’s Milan career suffers another setback

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan forward Rafael Leao is set to suffer yet another disappointing blow as he is likely to be left out of the starting XI to face Juventus.

That is according to Friday’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanLive) which highlights how Stefano Pioli with use a 4-2-3-1 against Juventus to try and cause an upset and reach the final.

Despite the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic due to suspension (as well as Castillejo and Theo Hernandez), Leao will not be present in the line-up as Ante Rebic will instead be deployed as the centre-forward..

When factoring in transfer fee and bonuses among other expenses, the Rossoneri made an almost €40million investment to sign Leao from Lille. However, the paper adds that his ‘usual indolent and absent-minded attitude’ convinced Pioli to leave him on the bench once again.

If Ralf Rangnick arrives, he could manage to get the best out of the 21-year-old and unleash his enormous potential, but there has been no step forward under Pioli.

There will be no space even in behind Rebic, as Hakan Calhanoglu and the enigmatic Lucas Paquetá will be chosen.
