CorSera: Leao and Theo push Milan to within a point of the Scudetto

AC Milan are just one more point away from being able to celebrate winning the Scudetto after the 2-0 victory against Atalanta yesterday evening.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes how it is a Scudetto that would be both deserved and unexpected given that there were other teams down as favourites, but the team took a huge step by beating Gasperini’s Atalanta 2-0 at San Siro thanks to goals from Leao and Theo Hernandez.

Now the Rossoneri just needs a draw on the last day of the season at Sassuolo to be crowned champion of Italy. However, games in Reggio Emilia are never easy and Milan did lose 3-1 to Sassuolo earlier in the season, but the team now have a new awareness and a different strength of mind.

Atalanta came to San Siro in need of points to earn a place in Europe next season, but Milan did not give away many chances to La Dea while they were clinical in front of goal when they got their own opportunities.

Pioli’s changes in the second half were once again decisive, as it was Messias who sent Leao in behind for the opener, while the second came via an incredible solo run from Theo Hernandez who took the ball at the edge of the Rossoneri area and – after having run the whole field by himself – he closed the game with a perfect shot.
