CorSera: Milan face Chelsea with two objectives in mind – a different attitude is needed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will take to the field to face Chelsea tonight with a double objective in mind as they look to respond to last week’s disappointment in London.

As Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) explains this morning, Stefano Pioli’s team must prove that the defeat in the first game was merely a blip rather than the true level of where his team is at, and picking up points against Graham Potter’s men could also be huge in the hopes of reaching the knockout stages.

By registering points tonight, Milan would then play the final two group games against Dinamo Zagreb (October 25 in Croatia) and Red Bull Salzburg (November 2 at San Siro) with their fate in their own hands.

However, Chelsea seem to be on a resurgence after changing manager and they have a squad worth €860m (versus €550m for Milan). The Rossoneri have a great desire for revenge after the defeat of a week ago in London, as Pioli admitted: “We have to show that the 3-0 was an exception, a blip. We are all disappointed with the performance, but this will be another game.”

The Rossoneri already showed an important reaction against Juventus on Saturday, but tonight it will be a whole other story as there will be no Charles De Ketelaere – stopped by a muscle problem – with the only change expected to be Rade Krunic in place of Tommaso Pobega. Compared to London, a more courageous showing is needed.
