CorSera: Milan identify replacement for midfielder and learn €12m price tag

By Oliver Fisher -

Most of the noise at the moment surrounding AC Milan’s summer window concerns the possibility of Rade Krunic leaving and being replaced.

Today’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) picks out Nicolás Domínguez of Bologna as a target for Milan. The Argentina international could in fact arrive to replacement Krunić in the Rossoneri midfield in the event of the Bosnian being sold to Fenerbahçe.

Milan are closely monitoring Domínguez’s situation. The former Vélez Sarsfield star has been at Bologna shirt January 2020 – having cost them €8.5m – while he has a contract expiring in June 2024.

Less than a year after the expiry of his agreement with the Rossoblu, he could be sold at a figure of around €12m which is – perhaps, not surprisingly – the amount that the Milan management expect to collect from a possible sale of Krunić to Fenerbahçe.

The curiosity is that Domínguez himself is the alternative to the Bosnian if Fenerbahce do not manage to complete the operation with the Rossoneri for Krunic.

  1. I had more preferred players on my list, but Dominguez is really good at what he does and a natural DM. And for a reasonable price.

I’m sure we will let Krunic go for 10 million and it will cover most of this transfer.

  2. Quite ironic if Fenerbahce actually prefers Krunic than Dominguez when they have the same valuation, while most of our fans think otherwise.

Is this a case of grass being a greener on the other side?

Personally, I thought Krunic is a versatile player, though shouldn’t be a starting material. Honestly, I haven’t seen Dominguez enough to make an accurate assessment. Just a bit weird why Fenerbahce is going for Krunic instead if he was much better and available at around the same price.

    1. They were linked to Dominguez just days ago, but it also comes down to the will of the player. Dominguez has an Italian passport and likely doesn’t want to leave Italy. That’s why Milan was always an attractive choice. It’s like Musah. No other clubs called up because the player made his intentions clear (Musah grew up in Italy, has an Italian passport and even played for a lower tier team as a teen).

And to be honest players go to that league when they are pass their peak.

  3. Where on earth will you snub an Argentine player to keep a Bosnian? Let Krunic go quickly and pave way for a fresh leg

  4. We were not supposed to sale many players because we had a good team which reached semi finals. As it stand we are starting all over again from zero.

    1. Sadly many fans here don’t realize that this is another year zero for Milan without the leadership of Maldini or Zlatan to push the lads to success. I hope Pioli doesn’t lose his job this season as he will be blamed if the new team doesn’t hit the ground running. He has better stick to his 4231 formation as his primary formation and switch only when necessary. Management will not tolerate any excuses from Pioli and no Maldini to back him up this time around. Selling our starters for people who are trying to discover themselves again in a new league is just madness. It’s a gamble that could backfire or produce results..fingers crossed for the new season,I really hope we do well and win the league with this risky experiment of ours

    2. We had a team which finished 5th in Serie A last season. We had a team that had no depth at any position and dropped points any time Pioli tried to rest any starters. We had a midfield that was getting bossed by even bottom table teams. Changes were needed. It may take a little time for the team to gel, but we are a stronger and deeper team now.

  5. Maybe Milan can sign a good Italian player since last I looked this is a italian League. This is really hurting the Italian national team thats why they Suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After 4 WC they wont sniff another
