AC Milan have not given up on the idea of signing Luka Modric from Real Madrid before the end of the month, a report claims.
It was confirmed by Di Marzio last month that the Rossoneri had met the agent of the Croatian midfielder at Casa Milan, with speculation intensifying that Milan could make a move.
The Sky journalist went on to claim that should there be even the slightest chance of landing Modric, then Milan are ready to pounce.
However, reports from Spain then stated that the midfielder has no intention of leaving Real Madrid, despite all the offers that he has received through his agent.
A promising update arrived over the weekend suggesting that Modric has his heart set on a move to San Siro, and now il Corriere della Sera on Wednesday provide more details.
They claim that at the moment there are no negotiations, but the dream has not been set aside yet.
Boban and Maldini would consider the signing of a midfielder high in both quality and experience, and should Donny van de Beek arrive at the Bernabeu, Modric would move to Milan willingly.
There are two obstacles to the deal, however: the €12million salary contract and the desire not to leave the merengues after a disastrous year.
