CorSera: Positive meeting, strong competition – Milan pushing for €5m Verona defender

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan held a positive meeting with the agent of Filippo Terracciano over a potential move but they face competition to land him, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) confirms that Milan have their eyes on Terracciano, a profile that they like because he is 20 years of age but already has Serie A experience, while he can also play left-back and right-back.

There are also other clubs interested in the player such as Fiorentina, Juventus and Bologna, but yesterday the Rossoneri tried to burn the competition by meeting his agent Andrea D’Amico at Casa Milan.

The meeting with the AC Milan directors was positive and now they will go to try and find an with Verona over a transfer fee. The paper goes on to add that it would be a low-cost deal, around €5m in total.

Meanwhile, yesterday Matteo Gabbia returned to Milan from his loan at Villarreal and from today he will once again be available to Stefano Pioli, meaning he is the first reinforcement.

Last night, before the Coppa Italia game against Cagliari, Geoffrey Moncada confirmed the desire to secure more additions for the rearguard: “We need defenders, we are examining all the opportunities.”

  1. From what I see Filippo Terracciano could easily take the DM role. He started his career in midfield role and was later shifted to RB. But he’s still used as midfielder from time to time. He has good positioning and passing. And is quite a unit at 1,86m. Kind of reminds me of Busquets.

    1. This guy plays all over the back four. He doesn’t do anything which is top class. He is alright, he is strong and is a decent crosser of the ball. Whatever comes from this player I expect the management to give players who aren’t a detriment to the performance of the team.

      1. Like I said in the other post where people here were again bashing Calabria – most of fans here seem to expect every player will do flashy things. Calabria is a decent player who keeps it tidy at his end. That’s it, job done. He’s not Theo or Leao but gets his job done. Take for example Ambrosini. He was nowhere near our class midfielders at the time but was respected because he got the job done when called upon. I’d say same for Gabbia. People said same for Tonali when he was signed. Or if I go across the street to Merda’s camp, same can be said about Acerbi and Darmian. They are nowhere near classy players but they get the job done and are regulars. This kid has potential and if he’s a decent team player that will leave his guts on the field for the team that’s all we need.

        1. Gambia is average at best. A good backup if needed. His biggest downfall is his speed. Pair him with Tamori and he might do well. However if he is with Kjaer or kalulu his speed issue is apparent

          1. I know things have changed but we seem to put a ton on emphasis on speed. If their positioning is good, he can be really good. i mean, Kjaer is pretty good, Thiago Silva at chelsea is almost 40 and pretty good, heck Nesta, Rio Ferdinand, Cambell, or more recent Chiellini and the whole Juve CBs of a few years ago. Speed helps but it isnt the silver bullet.

  2. Nothing would reward the players from last night more than signing new players in their positions……

It’s like that time I met and exceeded expectations for my boss and he rewarded me by bringing in someone to replace me.

Sorry there’s me again comparing football to real life.

    1. No need to apologize. No one here takes your constant complaining seriously anymore. Yeah, we know. Everything Milan does these days is wrong and everything was so much better “back in the days”. We never should have changed a bit from the scudetto-winning team etc.

Have you ever wrote anything even remotely positive here?

    2. Football is nothing like real life.

Terracciano might have to be signed because of squad requirements and he’s very versatile. And Calabria and Florenzi aren’t cutting it.

  3. We’re singing from the same hymn book, again.

I find this attempted signing to be an odd one on paper.

A guy whose senior experience is as a right back. That automatically places him behind the club captain and a serviceable veteran, not to mention putting him in competition with Musah who has done roles as a RM/RWB.

But we’re spending money on him in January which suggests he will play. Otherwise what is the point?

Are we signing this guy to cover the CB position? That’s pretty desperate. How long does it take Pioli to trust him to play CB?

Not to mention that It tells Bakoune he has no future with us and D’Alessio that his recent rise to first team in the Serie C counts for nothing (other than making him a more valuable asset for sale). It may signal the same thing to Simic or Pellegrino.

It’s a weird thing all round. I don’t even understand why Verona is prepares to let him go, for a merger fee (Parisi who is decidedly average cost Fiorentina 10m), but then it hasn’t always felt like their priority is staying in Serie A.

Feels like business being done for the sake of doing business.

  4. Like clockwork, an article appears on Football Italia suggesting Roma regrets selling Calafiori, as it should.

The stupid transfer merry go round.

  5. We aren’t signing him for CB. Probably more for RB. People complain a lot about everything on here. As if Florenzi or Calabria have been good and they just haven’t.
