CorSera: Milan set nine-figure asking price for Maignan amid Man Utd and Chelsea interest

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United and Chelsea are both interested in signing Mike Maignan from AC Milan but it will take some convincing, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) speaks about the rumours that Maignan has no intention of renewing his contract with Milan – expiring on 30 June 2026 – after Paolo Maldini’s exit.

Manchester United and Chelsea are the teams keen on signing the France international above all given that both are looking for a starting goalkeeper this summer, but the Rossoneri have made it clear they have no interest in selling.

However, if Maignan were to force his hand and ask to leave then the management have already set the price for his sale, and it is a rather steep €100m.

There is no doubting the importance that the 27-year-old has at Milan given that he is more than just an excellent goalkeeper. He is the first playmaker in the team, he is a leader on the field and in the dressing room too, so the asking price reflects that.

    1. Rubbish rumors (the more far away from the truth as possible the better) gets more clicks than true stories. Sad but true these days. No one cares about facts as they’re boring.

  1. even 100 million isn’t enough for this guy the only way you get a positive from selling him if you buy courtois and even then i think that would be a downgrade. Why dont we just play hard to get and put 1 bilion release clauses on these types of players like other teams like barca and madrid do .

    1. You get to put billion dollar release clauses when you pay extraordinary wages. That’s how it works and players gladly sign those thinking no one will pay that, I’m in a big team and getting big money. We don’t pay big money. Look at Leao, perhaps he’d take a half billion release clause if we paid him 15m per season. Downside to that? Well just look at Barca’s financial situation.

  2. Is cash in on him, u know… because we have the ability to sell players now🤭. Also I think his injury is going to plague him. Great move in that we have Sportiello (tbh we might be seeing him in goal more often than not, wink wink)
