CorSera: Milan’s points per game average has decreased dramatically in 2021 – the numbers

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan simply must pick up the pace if they are to secure the minimum target this season – a return to the Champions League.

The Rossoneri have actually led the Serie A standings for over 20 rounds of the current campaign but in 2021 their performances and results have dropped off, with five home defeats already amassed including damaging losses to Juventus, Atalanta, Inter and Napoli as well as Sassuolo in midweek.

This morning’s edition of the newspaper il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports how Milan’s points per game average in the league collapsed in the second half of the season. If in the first round it was 2.26 points per game, in the second half it has dropped to 1.76.

From January onwards, the Diavolo therefore are no longer performing at the kind of rhythm needed to make a Champions League return. Against Lazio tonight therefore things must change, because another defeat could be fatal.
