GdS: Milan’s attack to have a Croatian flavour against Lazio – their experience is sorely needed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s attack will have a very Croatian flavour tonight as Mario Mandzukic and Ante Rebic get ready to face Lazio, a report claims.

As this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport writes (via MilanNews), Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be available tonight against Lazio, but this time his replacement will not be Rafael Leao as head coach Stefano Pioli is disappointed with the performance of the Portuguese in recent weeks.

That is why he has decided to change the attack against the Biancocelesti, and it will be up to Mandzukic to lead the line. The former Juventus and Bayern Munich striker will have compatriot and friend Ante Rebic to his left, a man with whom he reached the final of the last World Cup.

The pair will have to show all their experience against a determined Lazio side who are coming off the back of a hiding from Napoli knowing this is their last chance to stay in the top four race, while the Diavolo want to redeem Wednesday’s defeat against Sassuolo.

Mandzukic’s entire experience is needed, despite the fact his physical condition is not yet optimal, but Pioli has opted for a target man that most resembles Ibrahimovic. Mario will need to be continuously supported by his team-mates, with Rebic close by.
