CorSera: Pioli makes first request since signing Milan deal – he wants renewal of key man

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has made his first request to the club’s management since renewing his contract, according to a report.

According to what il Corriere della Sera are reporting on Friday (via MilanLive), Pioli has already asked CEO Ivan Gazidis to keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Rossoneri coach has a good relationship with the Swedish centre-forward, who has become the leader of the group since his return to Milanello.

Ibrahimovic’s contract renewal isn’t easy due to his salary demands, while it must be considered that he has already had some clashes with Gazidis. Ibrahimovic has not hidden his doubts about the club’s management and plans in the face and in front of the cameras.

However, Pioli hopes that Zlatan will remain, perhaps with the involvement of Paolo Maldini to convince him. The latter had brought the Swede back to Milan together with Zvonimir Boban, therefore he may be decisive in the negotiation. The parties will meet at the end of the season though and not before.
