In the next coming hours the announcement that will confirm the departure of Zvonimir Boban, but the future of Paolo Maldini appears uncertain.
According to what is being reported by il Corriere della Sera on Thursday (via MilanNews), Stefano Pioli will remain on the Milan bench until the end of the season but that will be the end of his tenure, while Maldini’s fate is still to be decided altogether.
The paper claims that Elliott Management have already expressed their thoughts on the matter by leaving the decision to Maldini, who must choose whether to stay in the club and align with the new revolution that will happen upon Ralf Rangnick’s arrival, or follow Boban out of the exit door.
The current Rossoneri technical director is torn between loyalty to his friend Boban and loyalty to Milan and has not yet made a decision.
Those close to Maldini assure that there are many doubts. Coexistence with Gazidis in this last year has been really difficult: too many disagreements, too many controversies and misunderstandings. Are there margins to go on together? The last word belongs only to Paolo.
