CorSport: AC Milan ready to exercise right to buy Sevilla defender in bargain deal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are leaning towards exercising the option to buy they have on centre-back Simon Kjaer this summer, according to a report.

The Danish defender – who turns 31 today – arrived at Milan on loan in January until the end of the season from LaLiga side Sevilla, having spent an unsuccessful first six months of the campaign with Atalanta.

According to Thursday’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), Milan have an option to buy inserted into the deal that could see them sign Kjaer for just €2.5million once the season ends.

Given the physical problems Mateo Musacchio has been battling, the former Roma defender has had an opportunity pretty much straight from his arrival, and the paper claims that Milan are willing to make Kjaer’s move permanent.

His price tag is low and his experience is valuable, meaning even if the future project will probably involve mainly young talents, having some elder statesmen will be beneficial.

The player himself is happy to stay at Milan having had a positive impact in the group and having settled in well. At Milanello he has been praised for his professionalism and commitment put into every training session. Kjaer’s future appears to be red and black.
