AC Milan and Joshua Zirkzee have been intertwined with rumours over the past few months, and ahead of the summer mercato, there is a desire from the Rossoneri to secure him.
This summer was always going to be highlighted by the investment in a striker, and that was known before January, even if reports suggested that a move may be fast-tracked to the mid-way point. However, Luka Jovic’s exceptional winter form made Milan opt for a summer transfer.
The desire to add a striker was deepened with Olivier Giroud’s departure. Given the Frenchman has been the man to break the Rossoneri’s No.9 curse, there is now a need to find someone who can improve on Giroud’s record, as difficult as that may be.
Few names have remained consistently linked to the position, and one of those is Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutchman has had an incredible season with Bologna and has several suitors who will pursue him this summer, but his destination has not been decided yet.
As Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News) writes, there is a disconnect between the ideas of his agent and the player. For Kia Joorabchian, his agent, Arsenal calls, given his connections with the Gunners’ sporting director and their ability to offer a strong financial proposal.
However, Zirkzee is reluctant to move to England, currently. Instead, the report suggests he would like to stay in Serie A.
Whilst he dreams of a move to the Premier League, he would like an ‘intermediate step’ given the heavy expectations placed on players when moving to England for a fee, which he would command. Therefore, Serie A seems the more appealing option to him.
Milan are ready to make a move for Zirkzee, whom former striker Daniele Massaro could emulate Van Basten, but they must convince his agent to rethink the current landscape and his client’s wishes.
Whoever the marquee 9 will be, Guirassy with his low release clause and high goal tally should be a great support striker.
Also it seems that Joorabchian is in a lot of debt that he needs to pay off. Having Zee join Arsenal would make for a higher agent fee – he’s not looking after his won interests at all here…
The media near Arsenal have never given any meaningful importance to the rumours around Zirkzee. There is no chance Arsenal will buy him, as they need other profiles. It seems that Arsenal prefer Sesko over Isak or Gyokeres, since he can rotate with Kai Havertz who has been superb. The negotations with Sesko appear to be in an advanced stage. Arsenal also need a winger, but that certainly is not Zirkzee.
There is a disconnect between the ideas of player and agent?
I have no doubt that this sort of stuff is true. It’s been normalized to report it without criticism.
I thought the agents are accredited. Maybe this dip***t Kia Joorabchian can have his accreditation revoked and then be be subject to a tax investigation.
