CorSport: Atalanta winger ‘destined’ to join Milan – done deal ‘only a matter of time’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking to complete the signing of Josip Ilicic from Atalanta before the summer window closes, according to a report.

Il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how Gian Piero Gasperini’s comments on Ilicic confirm that he is set to depart, as he responded when asked about his future: “He is preparing to find a team that can let him play.”

Milan are the most likely destination but the management have not yet reached an agreement with Atalanta. Directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are aiming for a low cost deal, and would like to get away with simply giving up the 50% of the fee that would be handed to them in the event of Matteo Pessina’s sale.

However, that percentage will be cancelled out automatically when the midfielder reaches 100 appearances for La Dea through the payment of a €3m bonus. That is why Atalanta are asking for a further cash adjustment for Ilicic, but it is ‘only a matter of time’ as the paper claims the 33-year-old ‘is destined to move to Milan’.

  1. Atalanta so desperate to give us Ilicic but not Pessina whom we retain a 50% resale value. We need more hungry young players not an over used Oldies like ilicic who is already pass his prime

  2. Every time Ilicic touches the ball something very good happens. He is a must get even if only plays 2/3 of total minutes during the season.

  3. Why Milan interest on
a mature player? Why not try to get a young right-winger or playmaker, like Alex Collado? He is the captain of Barca B & have a great dribling, passing & shooting. Just because of Messi appearace in first scuad, Barca not use him now. I think Maldini must think to buy or just loan with buy option for him.
