CorSport: Budget restrictions cited as Arsenal target move for Spurs-linked Milan forward

By Oliver Fisher -

Arsenal are interested in signing AC Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu as they look to strengthen their squad under budgetary restraints, a report claims.

According to the Daily Express, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta wants to add to his attacking options between now and the end of the window, but knows he has a limited budget with which to do so.

The Express cite newspaper il Corriere dello Sport in claiming that Arsenal are still interested in the idea of signing Calhanoglu on a loan deal.

However, Milan are hoping to sell the Turkey international for around €20million which would in theory secure enough funds to try and find a suitable replacement.

The report adds that Calhanoglu is keen on leaving Milan this month in order to play regularly somewhere ahead of this year’s European Championships.

Meanwhile, Turkish newspaper Aksam (via FCInterNews.it) reported earlier on Thursday that Spurs have set their sights on the former Bayer Leverkusen man as a replacement for Christian Eriksen, who continues to be linked with a move to Inter.
