CorSport: Donnarumma determined to renew and achieve his dream at Milan – the three hurdles

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are optimistic that they will soon be able to reach an agreement with Gianluigi Donnarumma over the extension of his contract.

As il Corriere dello Sport writes this morning (via PianetaMilan), there are meetings and phone calls with his agent – Mino Raiola – planned for the coming weeks to try to find an agreement. Donnarumma in theory could already sign a pre-contract with another team, but he has no intention of doing so.

Donnarumma wants to stay at Milan, the team he always supported, which gave him his big break and which he has known since childhood. This has been reinforced by the fact that the Rossoneri seem to be competitive again and are on track for a place in the next Champions League.

Compared to the renewal signed in 2017 when he was a teenager, there are more certainties in the immediate future and a bright project to look ahead to.

The goalkeeper currently receives €6m net per season and the paper claims that the management are ready to offer €7.5m per season with bonuses, but Raiola has asked for almost €10m.

Furthermore, the agent is studying the insertion of a release clause in the contract which the management want to avoid. Then there is also the length to solve, with the possibility it could be until 2024, or even beyond.
