CorSport: Giroud prepares for Chelsea return amid second wave of youth

By Oliver Fisher -

Olivier Giroud is still regarded as a fan favourite by most at Chelsea, but he will face off against them as an opponent tomorrow night.

This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) talks about how Giroud will make the return to Stamford Bridge for the Champions League group stage game and it will be familiar surroundings for the Frenchman, who spent nine years in London playing for Arsenal and Chelsea.

In the Champions League campaign that resulted in the Blues beating Manchester City in the final two years ago, Giroud scored 6 goals in 8 games, including the famous match in which he scored 4 away against Sevilla .

The Rossoneri came in for Giroud last summer and the switch to Italy has provided him with second youth as he returned to playing as a starter, scoring some decisive goals and hoisting the Scudetto last season.

Giroud turned 36 a few days ago and he has scored 5 goals in 10 games this season in Serie A and in the Champions League, having netted in the home win over Dinamo Zagreb from the penalty spot.

The role of Ante Rebić and Divock Origi will be key in ensuring that Giroud does not work too hard, however he will certainly be fired up to face his former side.
