CorSport: Derby debut and desire for revenge – Jovic ready to seize Milan chance

By Oliver Fisher -

Luka Jovic has not had a training session with his new AC Milan team-mates yet, but he is already fired up and ready to try prove a point.

Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) speaks about Jovic, who Milan signed on the last day of the summer transfer window from Fiorentina on a free transfer and a one-year deal with option for a multi-year extension.

The former Benfica, Eintracht Frankfurt and Real Madrid centre-forward has not yet trained with the squad because he had to fly to Serbia to be with the national team immediately after signing his deal at Casa Milan.

Last night, Jovic came off the bench for the final stages of Serbia’s 2-1 defeat against Hungary, replacing Juventus player Dusan Vlahovic in the 86th minute.

He will remain at the disposal of head coach Dragan Stojkovic for the subsequent 2024 European Championship qualifier in Lithuania, scheduled for Sunday 10 September.

From Monday, Jovic will return to Italy and focus on the upcoming matches with Milan. He has a great chance to relaunch himself with the Rossoneri and it is one that he does not want to waste.

The paper adds that the 25-year-old could then make his debut with Milan in the biggest game of all: the derby against Inter. He dreams of hurting them again, after scoring against the Nerazzurri for Eintracht in the Europa League to knock them out.

Also, one of the last matches played by Jovic for Fiorentina last season was the final of the Coppa Italia between La Viola and Inter, resulting in a 2-1 defeat. There is a desire for revenge too, therefore.
