CorSport: Lazio eye defender for January after transfer ban – Milan have resale clause

The summer mercato has only just come to an end, but as Lazio were banned from making signings, they are now eyeing some names for January. One of them involves AC Milan.

Lazio were unable to provide Maurizio Sarri with any reinforcements this summer, having received a transfer ban. Capital needed to be injected directly from the club owner Claudio Lotito, which he refused, so the Biancocelesti are now eyeing January signings instead.

Head coach Maurizio Sarri has certainly been left frustrated with the situation and considering that he’s a demanding coach, January signings are more or less certain. One of the names that could arrive, as reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com), is Jan-Carlo Simic.

Simic and the resale clause

If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he played at Milan up until last year, when he was sold to Anderlecht in a permanent deal. The centre-back mostly played for the Rossoneri’s Primavera, but he made 6 appearances for the first team and even scored a goal.

As the newspaper states, Lazio now have their sights on the 20-year-old and could make a move in January. This is definitely something Milan will keep an eye on as when they sold him for €3m to Anderlecht, a 20% future resale clause was also included.

No price tag was mentioned by Corriere dello Sport, but it would likely be a small but nice boost for the Rossoneri’s accounts.
