CorSport: Leao a major target for Barcelona; Milan’s stance revealed

By Oliver Fisher -

Barcelona are interested in the idea of signing AC Milan star Rafael Leao to replace Luis Suarez, reports in Italy claim.

Spanish outlet Diario AS claimed last week that the Portugal U21 international was one of the players that the Catalan side had shortlisted as a possible replacement for Suarez.

The Uruguay international is now 32 and has less than two years remaining on his deal, which coupled with his inconsistent form means his days at the Nou Camp may be numbered.

A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport on Sunday though (via MilanNews.it) claimed that Milan are not aware of any interest from Barcelona in Leao.

The 20-year-old arrived from Lille earlier in the summer for a fee of €28m, and scored his first goal for the club two weeks ago.

According to an update from il Corriere dello Sport – as cited by MilanNews.it – Leao is in fact ‘in Barcelona’s notebook’.

However, the Rossoneri at the moment do not have the slightest intention of letting their prized young forward leave.
