CorSport: Management will begin concrete negotiations with centre-back soon

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will look to try and extend Simon Kjaer’s contract in the coming months as a reward for his excellent performances, a report claims.

Stefano Pioli is expected to be able to welcome the Dane back into the fold for Sunday’s game against Atalanta after a spell on the sidelines through injury, and that means that the Milan boss will have the rare luxury of a full defensive department.

According to il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), the management will soon begin to discuss the renewal of Kjaer’s contract given that his current deal expires next June, but there will be no problems in finding an agreement as per the paper.

Kjaer feels at home with Milan, where he is considered a leader like Ibrahimovic, and this means that he will certainly not be itching to test the market. The paper adds that the concrete negotiations will begin shortly and it is possible that a two-year renewal will be proposed – therefore until 2024 – with a salary that should be around €1.5m net per season.
