CorSport: Milan and Lazio battling for record-breaking LaLiga forward – the Rossoneri’s offer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are hoping to beat competition from Lazio to sign Real Mallorca sensation Luka Romero, according to a report.

Romero made headlines as he became the youngest debutant in the history of LaLiga, coming on last June against Real Madrid at just 15 years and 219 days, and he is tipped for very big things having been compared to Messi despite being an attacking midfielder by trade.

Goal reported in March that Romero has still not reached an agreement with Mallorca for the signing of his first professional contract and a number of top clubs – especially in Italy – are keen on signing him, with Milan, Inter, Napoli and Juventus having collected information.

According to il Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio are trying to close a deal for Romero and sporting director Igli Tare is working on it. The player would arrive on a free transfer, given that he has not yet signed his first professional contract.

However, the Aquile face strong competition because Milan are also on the trail of the 16-year-old Argentine and are ready to offer €400k net per season as a salary in what would presumably be a long-term deal.
