CorSport: Milan face competition from Roma in bid to land 6ft6 striker

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan face competition in the race to sign Austria striker Sasa Kalajdzic from Serie A rivals Roma, according to a report.

Kicker in Germany write that Milan have got their eye on the Austria international and from a starting point of around €25m the Bundesliga side are ready to talk, mostly because his contract ends in 2023 and he signed from Admira Wacker two years ago for less than €2m meaning it is a huge chance to make big profit.

According to the latest from il Corriere dello Sport (via Chiesa Di Totti), Roma are now also keen on signing Kalajdzic as they look to reinforce their attack amid doubts over the future of Edin Dzeko. A number of sources have linked Torino striker Andrea Belotti with a move to the capital, but it seems they are keeping their options open

Standing at 6’6”, Kalajdzic is very much a typical target man centre-forward but he is also good with the ball at his feet, earning him comparisons with some other top strikers.

“I’ve heard a comparison with [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, Peter Crouch, anything from ‘tall and lanky’ to ‘tall’ and an ‘Ibrahimovic-Machine!’” Kalajdzic told bundesliga.com during the 2020-21 season.

“When I used to play holding midfield in my youth, there was a player called Nemanja Matic at Manchester United who was a bit of an idol. He’s also Serbian and I have Serbian roots. I tried to compare myself to him. There are a lot of names: ‘tall striker’, ‘lanky striker’, ‘big striker’, everything! I don’t mind, I can’t really get involved because I’m just Sasa.”
