CorSport: Milan persisting with pursuit of Stuttgart star – the paradoxical obstacle

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking to sign a new striker when the transfer window reopens and they are persisting with their attempts to land Serhou Guirassy, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) writes how Milan are pushing to try and sign Guirassy in January, the centre-forward who is having an incredible season given he has amassed 19 goals and two assists in 16 matches across the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal.

The paper claims that, paradoxically, the biggest obstacle is convincing the player to move because he is enjoying a golden season in Germany and does not want to interrupt it halfway.

Alexander Wehrle, the CEO of Stuttgart, also dampened Milan’s enthusiasm regarding the possible arrival of Guirassy in the January transfer market during an interview with Bild in which he spoke on his future.

“Here he feels comfortable with his family and has an important role in the team. He really appreciates it,” he said.

“He is first and foremost interested in playing football and scoring goals. Guirassy wants to play in a team that works. In the discussions and chats we have, he emphasises several times that he feels very comfortable at Stuttgart. Will he stay? At the moment I don’t see any other signs.”

  1. Let HIM Cook. Just promise him starting striker above Jovic and Olivier Girou’..It could be the only way to convince HIM. Let him cook !

    1. I wouldn’t leave Germany if I were him. Why? Players are streaky, it’s the nature of the sport. You’re on a hot one? Great, keep going, increase the value of your stock at the end of the season.

  2. Lol that’s not how release clauses work. If someone pays the clause AND he agrees with the terms of the new club, he’s off. Club owners can kick rocks. But I guess they’ll be happy getting nice money for a 27 yr old with no upside and a half a good season for 17m to anyone foolish enough to do so…

…. Moncada and Foolani have entered the chat

  3. Let him COOK??? This is still a huge gamble. He’s 27 and has only produced this season – for 4 months?? Hardly a proven commodity especially having to adapt to Serie A. Is this all that the stellar management duo of Moncada and Fulani have up their sleeves? Let’s gamble half our summer transfer budget on a 27 yr old half-year wonder?? Huge gamble. And as we have already seen – their other gambles have not paid off. To me this is a desperation move for a cheap striker (relative to today’s standards) because they screwed up in summer not getting one of the plethora of strikers that were available at that time. Now we are left with what’s available in a weak January market. Splendid.

My guess is we don’t even buy this kid anyways. They will sit tight with Jovic and save the $$ yet again. All smoke and mirrors

    1. Gotta say, I’m with you… These one hit wonders are a huge gamble, especially from foreign leagues. No one has heard of this kid before. but BOOM one good season and it’s a bidding war all of a sudden.

And even if he’s really that good, he’s going to AFCON so you won’t even have him for a whole month after you buy him. And if he gets injured (inevitable at Milanello) then you lose him for longer.

The biggest thing though is the coaching candidacy in the summer. What coach would want this guy? Coaches prefer their own players/strikers. So if we don’t even know who will come in to take over, why are we gambling with 17mil?

      smh
