CorSport: Milan have not given up on Fiorentina star that Pioli has made his No.1 target

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have retained an interest in signing Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic ahead of the January window, according to a report.

It is now well-known that Milan are in the market for a new centre-back having failed to sign one during the summer, with a number of different targets being linked such as Schalke’s Ozan Kabak, Hellas Verona’s Matteo Lovato and Strasbourg’s Mohamed Simakan.

One name the refuses to go away however is that of Milenkovic, and il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports that the Rossoneri have not given up on landing the Serbia international, who is the target that head coach Stefano Pioli truly wants.

In the summer, La Viola asked for no less than €40million to sell the 22-year-old, an amount deemed excessive when considering he has a contract expiring in 2022 – which to date he does not seem willing to renew.

Relations between the Rossoneri and the player’s agent Fali Ramadani are excellent, and without an extension Fiorentina could be forced to evaluate an offer that arrives from the Rossoneri in January.
