CorSport: Milan re-ignite interest in Nigeria striker linked with €60m Liverpool move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have set their sights upon two young Ligue 1 stars as they look to launch their youth project this summer, a report claims.

According to Wednesday’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), Milan could stand to benefit from the fact the French season has been called off early due to Coronavirus as some clubs may have to part with prized assets for cheaper in order to cover the loss of income.

One player in particular has caught Milan’s eye in Lille striker Victor Osimhen. The paper notes how he was one step away from joining last year when he played for Charleroi as former sporting director Leonardo laid the foundations for a deal worth €10-12million.

Nonetheless the Nigeria international was eventually signed by Lille where he has scored 13 goals and added five assists in 27 games.

Osimhen is a player who continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool, and the Express reported on Tuesday that they have begun talks with his representatives over a switch to Anfield, but that the Ligue 1 club want €60m to even come to the negotiating table.

The other name on the list is 20-year-old centre-back Mohamed Simakan of Strasbourg. Milan are looking for a long-term partner for Alessio Romagnoli and have already made contact with the entourage of Simakan, valued at €15m.
