CorSport: Milan turn to Donnarumma’s renewal – first talks with Raiola expected soon

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will soon get ready to sit down at the negotiating table with Mino Raiola and discuss the renewal of Gianluigi Donnarumma, a report claims.

The fact that Donnarumma’s current contract expires in June 2021 has left the management feeling a bit nervous because there is the obvious risk that he could walk away for free in less than a year.

According to il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), Paolo Maldini and the rest of the leadership will hold initial talks with Raiola to get an idea of the figures of the operation, but importantly the negotiations will start from the basis that Donnarumma does not want to leave.

Donnarumma currently earns €6m net per season and Milan would be willing to give him a pay rise with the inclusion of bonuses linked to personal and team targets.

What the discussions could be centred around though is whether a release clause will be inserted. There has been talk that Raiola wants a release clause to protect his client in case things go south at Milan, but the club will try their best to avoid one being included.
