CorSport: ‘Never say never’ – Milan see French duo as ideal reinforcements

By Ben Dixon -

Looking at the midfield is AC Milan’s number one priority, and credit must be given for identifying the issue. Identifying an issue and sorting one are completely separate things, though, but the Rossoneri have two targets in mind.

Under Stefano Pioli, the midfield saw several revolutions, key players left, and new ones were brought in, each changing the way the engine ticked in their unique way. The same can be said about last season’s trident, however, the midfield was lacking, and this cannot be denied.

Not only did it lack balance and depth, but it also lacked some muscle, and whilst there was some from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, it was not replicated throughout the midfield, and this was often taken advantage of by the Diavolo’s opponents.

Therefore, Paulo Fonseca is attempting to make his side a more physical and balanced outlet, and he will start with his midfield.

Two names are in mind for the midfield, report Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News). Firstly Youssouf Fofana, the Frenchman is adored by the mercato department and he is the top priority, and his arrival would trigger the departure of Ismael Bennacer.

Addiotionally, Adrien Rabiot is a target, and once the European Championship has concluded, he will make a decision about his future, given he is a free agent.

  1. French media report that Fofana has already chosen Milan. Now it remains to be seen if the management will act quickly after the Euro to get him or if they’ll try to lower the fee until someone else pays the price and convinces the player.

    1. So he did choose us? Wasn’t he 20 million? Seems a wise investment. Though I do think we need another more defensively minded midfielder like Wieffer.

    2. Is there a French version of Fabrizio Romano? A French oracle that can be trusted? L’Equipe? Or are they as scandalous as most of the Italian press?

  2. We can end up with more French national team players than PSG. It’s gonna be probably a unique event in world history for a club to have most national team players from another nationality (with Kalulu a matter of time to join the men’s team as well).

  3. Will only believe when it happens ….. so very likely will simply remain a dream. Furlani and bunch of clowns only want cheap players possibly not more than €5 million …..
