CorSport: Okafor, Adli and more – Milan reflecting on futures of several players

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are reflecting on the futures of four first-team players with departures possible this summer, as the likes of Yacine Adli and Noah Okafor await their fate.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Radio Rossonera), the departures from the club this summer could be just as important as the arrivals.

It is already known that the experience of Olivier Giroud and Simon Kjaer will be leaving the club, but they may not be the only ones.

The players that could be moved on if favourable bids arrive are Luka Jovic, Tommaso Pobega, Noah Okafor and Yacine Adli.

All four of them have played a bit-part role this season under Stefano Pioli and are viewed as depth options, rather than key players who will become regular starters.

The exception to that description could be Okafor, who arrived last summer with a lot of promise and has had some impressive moments, albeit less than was initially expected.

Adli could be sacrificed to make space for a more defensive-minded midfielder, whilst Milan could sign two strikers which would lessen the need for Jovic in the squad.

Pobega has almost become a forgotten man given his injury woes this season and he likely would not need to be directly replaced.

  1. I don’t get it Okafor was really great always stood up for the occasion. Adli and maybe jovic I get… and pobega should play in Verona or sth idk

  2. I’m sure the new coach, whoever he (or she!) is will want to run the rule over the whole squad before making any decisions on transfers. Still, the sports dailies need to write a lot of copy to fill a paper every day, I guess….

    1. You are 💯 correct. That’s why I keep saying that the news repetitions and most times being made up just for “content sakes” are becoming unbearable.

  3. No one will bid for Okafor. We need to remember that Rebic was Leao substitute and Okafor this season made very good impression on that position. Okafor is young and cheap so Milan can’t find better solution on that position. Once Chukwueze start playing much stronger as right wing, left wing could play Pulisic if Leao is not very good.
Adli, Pobega, Maldini and Colombo should be sold for capital gain. Extend Jovic contract and sell him as well if you can bring 2 powerfull strikers.
Milan must upgrade team in every position because, now is time to go for bigger goals, because revenues exceed 450 million and with that amount Milan can become top Serie a team with strong European results for much greater revenues

  4. Jovic is not a reliable depth option. If the starting striker gets injuried for 3 months, having to rely on Jovic for every match during that time does not seem to be a wise idea. Milan need to buy 2 strikers, one of whom can comfortably play as a winger too.

  5. Doesn’t Jovic contract expire in the summer? How’s Milan going to sell a player who doesn’t have a contract with them?

  6. Can’t move Pobega on unless we replace him with an academy player next year (Malaspina? Or Eletu?). And for Jovic, Okafor and Adli…these are great squad/depth players to have. They all add something different and do very well when called up as a sub (esp Okafor and Jovic). Why would we need to move them on???

  7. It’s just an idea from sempremilan.com only,
This Media did it for his own purpose business matter
The problem in Milan is only Coach : he is too slow to read the game, and always late to realise that Milan need to change the strategy in Middle of battle.
(We can read and saw in many media in post match review),
What we need to be a champion are already in this squad and the depth (also in our young squad)
