CorSport: Pioli relies on his ‘trio of aces’ against Lazio plus returning leader

By Oliver Fisher -

The games are coming thick and fast for AC Milan and they are back on the field against Lazio this evening, with Stefano Pioli expected to revert to his ‘first choice’ attack.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes this morning that despite the important Champions League match on Wednesday in Dortmund, Pioli will field an XI with the players considered to be starters all on the pitch.

Pioli intends to use the ‘trio of aces’ he has in attack. Rafael Leao will be on the left, on the right Christian Pulisic and the striker  Olivier Giroud.

The latter – who celebrates his birthday today – and the Portuguese will be back on the pitch from the first minute after the rest period granted against Cagliari.

The rotations made on Wednesday were inevitable with so many close matches and ultimately paid off. Now, however, against a rival like Lazio, Pioli can do nothing but rely on those he considers his best men.

Milan can also welcome back Mike Maignan who returns to his place between the posts, despite Marco Sportiello not making his absence felt too much with performances worthy of his French team-mate.

Pioli not only finds a great goalkeeper but also a born leader who in important matches like these is definitely an added value for the whole team.
