CorSport: Rebic appears motivated in preseason – he is aiming for redemption

By Oliver Fisher -

The early signs from Ante Rebic in preseason have been very positive ahead of what is a possible redemption campaign for the Croatian.

Ante Rebic wants to take back Milan. As reported in today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), Rebic appeared energised and motivated in the first few days of the preseason retreat. The former Eintracht Frankfurt man wants to regain Stefano Pioli’s trust after a subdued last season due to injuries.

The physical problems disrupted any rhythm and as a result Rebic did not manage to contribute in the way he would like, scoring only two league goals in the eventual Scudetto win.

He scored 11 across all competitions in 2020-21 so we know what he is capable of, and Pioli is also aware that having Rebic in form allows more tactical variations. Pioli considers Ante not only as a man to let Rafael Leao have a breather, but also as a reserve striker if needed.

The signs in preseason have been good and these must also be shown in friendlies, starting tomorrow at Milanello against the amateur side and then on Saturday in Germany against FC Köln.

  1. The Croatian playmaker could score 22 goals. He has a lot of footwork’s. He plays just like Kelvin De Bruyne or Assensio
